No more updates untill...
v10!
Yes. We have started the final "building" of the site itself.
Everything will come together quite nice. One catch though. The site will pre-launch with everything on it, except all of the tutorials.
Then, I will update the old tutorials with the new ones, one at a time over the course of 2 weeks. This method is much better and easier than finishing everything and waiting for the complete product and THEN place it online. AND this way, you'll get to see it online sooner!
Don't worry, a few of the new tutorials will already be online with the launch.
So now, I will not update the v9-news, simply because I do not have any time.
What I will do, is leave you with a video that has been making me laugh for 3 days now at school, work and at home.
MADtv presents, Ahnuld Schwarzenegger's Musical of Terminator 2
Did you rike it?
Bald
Long time no update again...
Still the usual. Very busy and bored at the same time.
Project is doing really good at the moment. After waiting patiently on feedback from our client, our teacher advised us to "take matters into our own hands" and just amaze them with our own picked style.
We went crazy and got a very slick style which is supposed to be done this week. Looking at the amount of work, it's not that much, but that's one more reason to make it extra cool right? It's not that time-consuming anymore though.
I'm NEARLY bald by the way. I went to the barber (I think it's called hairdresser nowadays) and asked if she could milimeter my hair. Kinda the same as Justin Timberlake if you think of it. I wasn't going for it because of him though. I wanted something new and because it's summer, it's cool to have "new hair". I'm quite pleased and have had numerous replies on it, all positive.
The site's going pretty well. Tutorials is ALMOST done and then it's off to checking the layout again for a small redesign (since I'm always perfectionising myself) and then we're ready to go. I've looked at the calendar en noticed I took almost a year on this version. I now know that combining school with bringing a new version online is HELL.
Explanation is simple. Since it will only get worse with my time, I will now work extra hard on making a steady base of v10 where I can easily update content on. For the mainsite I think I'm going for a portal-ish structure, so if all things come together, I'll be updating content daily with blog-items, news, articles, tutorials and competitions!
Lame thing is that I still have to battle myself through hours left of writing for the tutorials... Wish me luck!
HOT
I'm weird. So many times have I wished for nice hot weather - t-shirt weather. And now that we have it, it starts to annoy me again.
I guess it's one of those things you don't miss untill it's gone. Summer that is. Not winter. No... winter has too many nasty side-effects.
No summer is great. Finally I can wear my t-shirts, all the hot girls come outside, miniskirts, icecream, sunbathing, sitting on a nice terrace with a drink... aahh.. you name it!
Thing is, my room is kinda where the attic is. So that means I got bad isolation and a piramid-shaped room. Ergo, my room is a sahara in the summer and an iceblock in the winter.
NOTE TO MYSELF: when I move out, get a house with flat roofs ONLY!
But I cannot nag. Not when there's still work piling up from MickM.com and the Wii-project. Both are great, but really shouldn't be put together. I don't have much to say really... because every day consists of the same: Working on the Project/Working on MickM.com, both with an ocasional small break of GTA IV. But I'm cutting back on the breaks now that I've finished the game. The replay-value of it isn't as much as the previous games.. But I guess there's always the episodic content coming up. Still Wii-project and MickM.com v10- first.
This has to be the most painfull pre-launch ever since v8 ... hahaha!
Huge Update
London
Monday - 05.00 : We woke up and drove off to Schiphol airport where we were going off to London. First time I flew was when I was 1½ so I don't recall any of that. To say the least, I was shitting myself. I was literally petrified to go flying. I even tried taking some medicine to calm me down, but after 3 days of taking that, I rejected it, because it *is* al mental.
Monday - 09.00 : When we finally got in the plane, it began driving around the airport looking for a place to take off. Aparently every plane does that. At this point my heart was beating incredibly fast. Those damn crash-tests and explanations of the safety-gear also doesn't help to your fear. But when we took off and the plane was crossing speeds of well over 200 km/h and we were safely in the sky, the worst was over. I had survived the take-off. And it wasn't anything. I had worried for nothing. Damn!
Monday - 13.00 : London's a big place and the underground takes ages for someone not used to travelling such long distances. I kinda liked the whole underground-thing. Made me think of Paris and New York, without ever being in New York. Still it was a nice trip.
When we got to the hotel, it looked VERY classy. And it was also located in this very classy neighbourhood of Bayswater. The houses and hotels around our hotel all kinda looked like the house in The Nanny.
Tuesday and Wednesday were cool. We went to various things including Harrods where we bough luxurious chopsticks, saw a lot of cool things and noticed that only handsome people are allowed to work there.
Changing the Guards was probably the most stupid thing I've ever seen. As far as respecting someone's culture, this is over the line of respecting it. I think it's really a waste of time and money. A few guards walking to the wall and back OVER AND OVER AGAIN. We left after 2 hours when they still hadn't changed those guards. Silly monarchs...
We saw some cool things, but it was a shame my parents didn't want to spend THAT much money since everything was freakin' expensive, otherwise I could have visited the house of wax or whatever it's called.
I must saw that London was ok, but I still think it's a bit overrated. The Big Ben was actually quite small, the Bridge was also very small and the turqouise made it look awfull and it's just a big mixture of Paris and Amsterdam.
What I did like were the fact that London had so many more beautifull women walking around. A lot of gorgeous blondes and brunettes and most of them with glasses. And might I say that glasses ALWAYS make a girl look hotter! Also quite a lot of asian girls. Damn, my eyes were having the time of their life.
Also, when you order a coke there, you get a large glass with loads of ice and a slice of lemon. Perfect! Where in Holland you get a small glass with slightly hot coke.. eeew.
Also, the breakfast was kinda nice to try, but for someone who doesn't eat much at breakfast, it wasn't such a good idea.
The flight back was a walk in the park as well. Apart from the tubulence and the occasional rollercoaster-feeling when we "hit" a cloud, the ride was smooth. I worried for nothing. I would most certainly do it again!
GTA IV
How long have I waited for this game? Well to be exact, ever since I finished San Andreas for the first time. I've always been a fan of GTA and I've been following the pre-release ever since word got out. Turned out that when my pre-ordered version got delivered, I was in London. I got it friday at last, when all my friends already had it. But still, the game KICKED ASS. I took 2 days off from school to play it and might I say that it was TOTALLY worth it? Yeah I might! A good friend of mine, Tim, donated me his free voucher for a month free XboxLive Gold, so I also had a chance to play with him and other pal Steve online. Damn, this game is great in singlelplayer AND mulitplayer. And it's one of the few game that has small errors that you just don't want to see because of it's total view.
I really recommend people buying it if they have an Xbox or PS3. My gamertag btw is m1ggles, so hit me up if you wanna game! Now I can! Thanks to Tim!
Ironman
Saturday, I went to see Ironman. A classmate of mine was totally freaking out about it, saying to be the best Marvel-film ever. Us both being Marvel-fans, I didn't doubt him, but noticed that Ironman was starting to get awfully close to that line of overratement.
I saw it with a slight feeling of skepticism. ...and I was amazed.
BEST MARVEL FILM EVER! Seriously. I've seen them all and am a great admirer of Stan Lee, but still thinks most of the movies are worthless efforts of trying to recreate one of the best heroes and villains of the comicbook-era.
Robert Downing Jr. portrayed Ironman perfectly. The suit was awesome and although Ironman was never really my favorite Marvel-hero, it certainly is now!
Let's just hope Indiana Jones will kick ass just like him!
I am still VERY skeptical about Batman, because, apart from Bale being a great actor, I think he's a lousy Batman AND Heath Ledger makes an even lousier Joker. Me being an altime Batman-fan, loves the old Burton-movies and of course the Animated Series where the Joker is a classy, well-dressed, psychopath. Here, he's just a dirty silly bum who doesn't even smile ALL THE TIME. I stick by Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson ANYTIME!
Back to work...
And now, it's back to work. Back to work on our schoolproject that has to be done soon. Tomorrow, we're having a meeting and I think the whole project just might come out nice. Still doubting about the graphical style, because we still haven't had feedback about that from out client, but let's hope they pick our experimental, more original, style.
As far as MickM.com, I'm still using up all my free time (apart from last week, because I *do* need a holiday) to work on the site. It should be done within a month I recon!
Adios!
Gone
It's partially because I'm very busy with school and my website, but also partially because just nothing interesting has been happening here.
For the past week(s), I've been way too busy with the very demanding task of my project, but also the finishing of v10.
Nothing interesting in that right? In both situations, it would be so much cooler to see the result right? Well that will happen. I just don't know when.
Last wednesday was a meeting at school for all the 3rd year students about the MASTERS. Turns out, if you want to do your MASTER, it's gonna cost you a buttload extra, AND you'll be working from september till september with no holidays. They also spoke of some more things why it sucks...
I always *wanted* to do my MASTER, but now I'm not that certain anymore. It could be that they told everyone the MASTERS are crap, so that the BACHELORS wouldn't feel bad if they wouldn't be chosen. OR, the MASTERS really suck, OR it's reversed psychology!
Either way, I'm still thinking of doing them, because why else would there be a MASTER if it sucked? Same for HD-Ready and Full-HD. If both are the same, why are there 2? Ha-ha, got you there!
Tomorrow I'm leaving to London for 3 days, so for all the peeps in London, if you see an awesomely cool guy wearing a button-filled black shoulder bad saying "MickM" in logo-form, don't hesitate to say hi!
I don't know why I'm going anyhow... My parents wanted me to come on this little holiday. I guess it's cool and all, but GTA IV gets delivered tuesday when I'm not at home to recieve it. And when I get home on wednesday-evening, the mailman won't be there, because it's late. And thursday is some stupid day called "Dag van de Arbeid", which is a really weird name because literally it means "Day of working" and it's a freakin' day off. WHY CALL IT DAY OF WORKING IF YOU'RE NOT WORKING? Argh...
Then I guess I'll have it friday if the deliveryguys don't fuck it up.
That sucks...
The good thing is, is that now I can buy Darkplace and IT Crowd on dvd, because they do have those on dvd in London!
